We are in an age and time where 24 hours is not enough to go about our daily activities. As a result of this, parents have lost touch with the events that happens in their children’s lives. This is a call to all parents to keep an eye on their children. The ambition to work hard, earn money, make a good living has almost cost us our responsibility as a parent. There are no eyes that can oversee kids like those of their parents. Every parent has the responsibility to watch over their children, instill good moral principles and make them relevant to the society.
Why you must take your eyes off your watch and keep your eyes on your children.
Many children go through a lot without the awareness of their parents. The case of sexual abuse and assault is just one of the several reasons. Many children suffer sexual violence silently. In most instances, close family relatives are mostly behind it. If we had been a little more watchful over them, such ugly incident would likely not have happened.
Peer influence:
Juveniles tend to associate as much as other age groups. Bad traits are easily picked by children more than anything else. Bad habits; sex, alcohol, doing drugs, are learned from a very young age. If these habits are not noticed or spotted early, too bad, it will become an addiction no form of discipline may be able to correct. This is enough reason for any parent to watch over their children intimately. Ensure they associate with the right children and that they are not being influenced negatively.
Another good reason why we must watch over our children above anything else is so they can do well at school, make good grades and build a career. We need to study our kids; know what they love doing, their hobbies, where they belong; whether the sciences or arts so we can give them the proper education and assistance they would ever need.
Our children are an extension of who we are. Watching over them keenly should be top of our priority list above anything else. We must ensure they become the best they can ever be, and they’d be eternally thankful to us.
