Teaching is an act of imparting knowledge to a particular set of people, community, or the society at large. The main purpose of this act (teaching) is to bring about illumination of information on a platform of understanding. Considering the four walls of academics (school), the purpose of teaching is to enable students to apply the knowledge acquired in their respective fields of career. But in a situation whereby, acquiring knowledge (learning) becomes hectic, definitely some factors must be responsible for this, is it the incompetency of the teacher, awful academic environment, or the inability of the students to grasp things at the required average pace during classes? This issue is a critical one that requires optimal attention because a life without education can be likened to a room with no light.

    Of what use is a class whereby a large number of the students do not understand whatever the teacher has taken them? Incompetency of the teacher is no doubt a big cause. So for teaching to be efficient a few numbers of parameters has to be dealt with before approving anyone of being a proficient teacher. Everyone is entitled to his or her own method of teaching, but basically, a teacher needs to be calm and cool-headed. Being calm is not a matter of being so permissive. This builds a cordial relationship with the students, giving them the confidence to ask questions whenever some areas of the subject(s) in particular are hazy. With this the students can even decide to talk about personal issues bothering them with the teacher, preventing them from making mistakes in their lives outside of school if the teacher is a good adviser, absolutely the teacher should be.

    Moreover, knowing the limits of the students, is a beautiful style, because everyone has limits, though the limits are relative, this style gives the teacher a platform of where to start from so the least in the class could understand. Students tend to indulge laziness whenever their master (the teacher) gives room for such. Therefore a teacher needs to be disciplined, ensuring students carry out the required assignment. On the parents’ part, the teacher needs to maintain open communication with them and keep them informed of what is going on in the academic life of their children.

  Lastly, passion for teaching is essential, frustrations from different angles will set in, when the motivation for teaching is lost, that is a few numbers of the students not meeting up as required, family issues, and all that, the passion for this life-changing profession (teaching) keeps one going on.
