We might feel that so far we are providing the basic needs for the children then our role as parents are being met. But little did we know that sometimes, the tiny things matter a lot, and in this case, it is the eating habit in our children. Eating habit goes a long way, and even in the business world, it can be used in telling the type of person one is, and by then, it will probably be too late. So the best time to instill a good eating habit is when the children are still young. How can this be done is the question that is to be answered in this article;
Eat with your children: As a famous saying goes, “a family that prays together stays together”, now imagine a family that prays and eats together. Let’s put that imagination into reality and see how beneficial it can be for the children. When you as a parent is eating with your children, and you spot a bad manner of eating, this habit can be corrected immediately because of your presence. And considering the rate at which children get obese due to bad eating habit, eating with them is an effective way to minimize the possibility. Children are beautiful creatures as they can be very perfect at emulating almost anything, so this means developing a good eating habit in children does not just stop at eating with them, it also means you have to possess the habit you want in your children.
Let them help you cook so that it excites them to taste what they cook: There was a time in my life I thought I could never know how to cook, after sneaking into the kitchen on several occasions trying to make a dish only to end up making a mess. Then one day my mum invited me to join her in making a soup, a fish stew to be precise. Even though it was just salt, I added to the stew that very day, the joy I felt on tasting the stew can never be forgotten. This feeling cannot be contained especially when the child has been showing interest in the kitchen. It might be scary, but you will never know until you give it a try, and of course with supervision.
